ACTorah is a Jewish Children's Theatre, where famous Torah stories and biblical figures come to life on stage.

 

The theatre was founded and created by Actress/Director/Writer/Educator, and USC School of Theatre alumni, Yafit Josephson, known for her critically acclaimed one-woman show "NEW EYES", which performed in Los Angeles and toured around the US for over 5 years.

 

Yafit was born in Los Angeles and raised in Israel since she was 2 years old. She decided to move back to LA in 2003, following her IDF military service, to study acting and pursue her lifelong dream of becoming an actress. Shortly after, Yafit got accepted to USC School of Theatre with a full scholarship, and had a tremendous success with her one-woman show "NEW EYES", following graduation. While at USC, Yafit discovered her passion for teaching when she started working as a Hebrew and Judaic Studies teacher, as well as a Drama Specialist, in Jewish schools around LA, such as Sinai Akiba, Wilshire Temple, Hillel, Adat Shalom and Kehillat Ma'arav. For 15 years, she has been teaching and working with kids ages 5 to 18, and directing Jewish theme plays at Jewish schools. She has been incorporating her passion for theatre and acting in all of her classes and that's when ACTorah was born. A theatre program that excites children to study the Torah, and all of its important lessons, while embodying the biblical figures, reliving the stories and experiencing the Torah on a whole new level.

Each session will focus on a specific Torah story, such as Joseph's Coat, Adam & Eve, Noah's ark, etc., and the children will prepare and rehearse a full theatrical production, using a script, costumes, props and all the technical elements of a theatrical production (lights, sound, etc.) A final performance will be presented to the families at the end of the session.

When Yafit is not at the theatre, she is busy taking care of her three boys, ages 5, 3 and 10 months. She is also a working actress and recently worked on the NETFLIX shows "Fauda" and "When Heroes Fly", originally Israeli TV shows.
